Top 20 Countries: Citations in Five-Year Increments

Last month ScienceWatch.com presented its annual "Top 20" listings of countries (across all 22 fields), which as of the latest bimonthly update of Essential Science IndicatorsSM, achieved particular distinction based on their papers published in Clarivate-indexed journals from January 2001 through August 31, 2011, a 10-year plus 8-month period (fourth bimonthly). This month, ScienceWatch.com Webmaster Spyder Schafer presents additional data for the latest annual selection of “Top 20” countries. In this analyses, the graphs below show each country’s citations in overlapping five-year increments since 2001. The countries are listed in the same order—again, according to total citations—as they were last month.
