Authors: Mortici, C |
Cristinel Mortici talks with ScienceWatch.com and answers a few questions about this month's Fast Breaking Paper paper in the field of Mathematics.
Why do you think your paper is highly
cited?
The paper is highly cited because it provides a new method for constructing asymptotic expansions and for improving some estimates of special functions, with many practical applications.
Does it describe a new discovery, methodology, or
synthesis of knowledge?
It describes a new methodology using elementary tools.
Would you summarize the significance of your paper
in layman's terms?
The significance consists in its large amount of applications.
How did you become involved in this research, and
how would you describe the particular challenges, setbacks, and
successes that you've encountered along the way?
I have been involved in this research ever since I was a university student. I have some direct colleagues who are interested in the same subject.
Where do you see your research leading in the
future?
The research can be used in other areas such as physics, statistics,
probabilities, etc.
