were updated to cover a 10-year plus 8-month period, from January 1999 to
August 31, 2009. With this update, the data pool expanded to include an
additional 1,863 scientists, 216 institutions, 16 countries, and 66
journals that are either entirely new to Essential Science
Indicators, or new to one of the database’s 22 fields.
