Between 2003 and 2007, Clarivate indexed 62,058 papers that listed at
least one author address in Poland. Of those papers, the highest percentage
appeared in journals categorized under the heading of physics. As the
right-hand column shows, the citations-per-paper (impact) average for
physics papers from Poland during 2003-07 was just 9% below the world
impact figure in that field (3.60 citations per paper for Poland, versus a
world mark of 3.96 cites per paper). In space science, on the other hand,
research from Poland exceeded the world average by 9%. The impact of
Poland-based research also topped the world mark in computer science (1%
above) and clinical medicine (+5%).
