Between 2004 and 2008, Clarivate indexed 43,795 papers that listed at
least one author address in Finland. Of those papers, the highest
percentage appeared in journals classified under the heading of
environment/ecology, followed by space science and computer science. As the
right-hand column indicates, the citations-per-paper average (or impact)
for ecology papers from Finland during the five-year period surpassed the
world average by 34% (5.94 cites per paper for Finland, versus the world
baseline of 4.43 cites per paper). Relative-impact scores for Finland were
also notably strong in agricultural sciences (57% above the world average),
physics (also 57% above), clinical medicine (+43%), and geosciences (+32%).
In neuroscience & behavior, the impact of Finland-based researchers
happened to match the world mark precisely: 8.03 citations per paper. .
