Between 2004 and 2008, Clarivate indexed 46,849 papers that listed at
least one author address in Austria. Of those papers, the highest
percentage appeared in journals categorized under the heading of space
science. As the right-hand column shows, the citations-per-paper (impact)
average for space science papers from Austria during 2004-08 was 15% below
the world impact figure in that field (6.05 citations per paper for
Austria, versus a world mark of 7.14 cites per paper). By contrast, the
impact of Austria-based authors exceeded the world figure in numerous
fields, notably physics (67% above the world mark), molecular biology &
genetics (33% above), and plant & animal science (also +33%).
