Of those papers, the highest percentage appeared in journals classified under the heading of agricultural sciences, followed by mathematics. As the right-hand column shows, the impact (citations per paper) of agricultural-sciences papers featuring Hungary-based authors was 29% below the world average during the five-year period (2.14 cites per paper for Hungary versus the world mark of 3.01). By contrast, the impact of Hungarian authors was strong in space science (50% above the world mark), psychiatry/psychology (38% above), and pharmacology & toxicology (+28%). In computer science, Hungary’s impact happened to match the world score precisely: 1.70 cites per paper.
