Steven Phillips in a baobab in
Madagascar. This species (Adansonia
grandidieri) is one of about 2000 whose
distributions were modeled using Maxent
for a large conservation planning study
in Madagascar, published in
Science last year
(Science, 320, pp. 222-226,
2008). I was one of 22 co-authors on
the study.

Bradypus variegatus, a three-toed
sloth, which was one of the species we
used to showcase Maxent in the paper.
Warmer colors show stronger predict of
suitable conditions for the
species.
