were updated to cover a 10-year plus 2-month period, from January 1998 to
February 29, 2008. With this update, the data pool expanded to include an
additional 7,904 scientists, 258 institutions, 36 countries, and 90
journals that are either entirely new to Essential Science
Indicators, or new to one of the database’s 22 fields.
