Between 2002 and 2006, Clarivate indexed 59,882 papers that listed at
least one author address in Poland. Of those papers, the highest percentage
appeared in journals categorized under the heading of physics. As the
right-hand column shows, the citations-per-paper (impact) average for
physics papers from Poland during 2002-06 was just 8% below the world
impact figure in that field (3.45 citations per paper for Poland, versus a
world mark of 3.77 cites per paper). In space science, on the other hand,
research from Poland exceeded the world average by 15%, while the impact
score in computer science was +11%. The nation's performance was also
comparatively strong in engineering and clinical medicine..
