Between 2004 and 2008, Clarivate indexed 141,317 papers that listed
at least one author address in South Korea. Of those papers, the highest
percentage appeared in journals indexed in the category of computer
science. As the right-hand column indicates, the cites-per-paper average
for South Korean papers in computer science registered at 45% of the world
average by during the five-year period (or 55% below: 0.68 citations per
paper for South Korea versus the world mark of 1.51). On the other hand,
South Korea’s relative-impact scores were comparatively strong in
plant & animal science (just 5% below the world mark), space science
(7% below) , and materials science (-9%).
