Between 2004 and 2008 Clarivate indexed 43,185 papers listing at
least one author address in Greece. Of those papers, the highest percentage
was indexed in the field of computer science. As the right-hand column
shows, the impact (citations per paper) score for Greece in computer
science was 28% below the world mark for the five-year period (1.09 cites
per paper for Greece versus 1.51 cites for the world). On the other hand,
researchers based in Greece exceeded the world average in other fields
shown here, specifically in physics (16% above the world mark),
agricultural sciences (13% above), and mathematics (1% above), while
relative-impact scores were also comparatively strong in chemistry,
engineering, and geosciences.
