Between 2005 and 2009, Clarivate indexed 131,977 papers that listed at least one author address in the Netherlands. Of those papers, the highest percent appeared in journals indexed under the heading of space science, followed closely by psychiatry/psychology. As the right-hand column shows, the impact of space-science papers featuring Netherlands-based authors was 41% above the world average for the field (10.88 citations per paper for the Netherlands versus 7.69 for the world). In fact, the Netherlands exceeded the world average in all the fields shown here, with notably strong performance in materials science (88% above the world mark), physics (76% above), and plant & animal science (+67%).
