Between 2004 and 2008, Clarivate indexed 75,631 papers that listed at
least one author address in Poland. Of those papers, the highest percentage
appeared in journals categorized under the heading of physics. As the
right-hand column shows, the citations-per-paper (impact) average for
physics papers from Poland during 2004-08 was just 5% below the world
impact figure in that field (3.94 citations per paper for Poland, versus a
world mark of 4.16 cites per paper). In space science, by contrast,
research from Poland exceeded the world average by 15%. The impact of
Poland-based research also topped the world mark in clinical medicine (3%
above) and was comparatively strong in agricultural sciences.
