Between 2005 and 2009, Clarivate indexed 50,224 papers that included at least one author address in Denmark. Of those papers, the highest percentage appeared in journals indexed in the category of immunology, followed by environment/ecology. As the right-hand column shows, the citations-per-paper mark for Denmark-based authors in immunology was 9% below the world average in the field for the five-year period (9.43 cites per paper for Denmark versus the world average of 10.34). On the other hand, Denmark’s relative-impact performance was markedly strong in all the other fields shown above, notably clinical medicine (60% above the world average), along with space science, physics, and materials science (all 56% above).
