Between 2005 and 2009, Clarivate indexed 45,702 papers that included at least one author address in Finland. Of those papers, the highest percentage appeared in journals indexed in the category of environment/ecology, followed by space science. As the right-hand column indicates, the impact of environment/ecology papers featuring Finland-based authors was 45% above the world cites-per-paper mark in the field (6.86 cites per paper for Finland versus the world average of 4.72 cites). Finland’s relative-impact marks were also notably strong in physics (54% above the world mark), agricultural sciences (52% above), clinical medicine (+47%), and geosciences (+36%).
