Between 2005 and 2009, Clarivate indexed 131,081 papers that listed at least one author address in Russia. Of those papers, the highest percentage appeared in the field of physics, followed closely by space science and geosciences. In physics, the cites-per-paper (impact) figure for papers from Russia-based authors was 20% below the world average in the field (3.49 cites per paper for Russia, versus the world mark of 4.36 cites). Although Russia has yet to meet the world average in any of the fields shown here, the country’s performance was relatively strong in engineering, immunology, and pharmacology & toxicology.
