Between 2005 and 2009, Clarivate indexed 81,561 papers that listed at least one author address in Poland. Of those papers, the highest percentage appeared in journals indexed in the category of Physics, followed by Chemistry and Mathematics. As the right-hand column shows, the impact (cites per paper) mark for Physics reports featuring Poland-based authors was just 8% below the world figure (3.99 cites per paper for Poland versus 4.36 cites for the world). With the exception of Space Science and Clinical Medicine, the impact of Polish research did not meet the world average in the fields shown, despite comparatively strong performance in Physics, Agricultural Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science. In Clinical Medicine, Poland’s impact mark happened to match the world figure precisely: 5.88 cites per paper.
